INSIZE 1525 Digital Centerline & Edge-to-Center Caliper
The INSIZE 1525 Digital Centerline & Edge-to-Center Caliper is a specialized precision measuring instrument designed to measure both hole center-to-center distances and edge-to-hole center distances. Its purpose-built measuring jaws provide a direct way to inspect hole locations and centerline dimensions on machined, fabricated, and industrial components.
The 1525 series is available from CRB Supply in 500 mm, 1000 mm, and 1500 mm measuring capacities, making it suitable for everything from smaller precision components to large fabricated and machined parts.
With 0.01 mm / 0.0005" resolution, stainless-steel construction, a digital display, preset functionality, and dedicated measuring jaws for centerline and edge-to-center measurements, the 1525 is designed for demanding dimensional inspection applications.

Two Specialized Measurement Functions
Center-to-Center Measurement
The lower measuring jaws are designed to measure the distance between the centers of two holes.
This is useful for inspecting mounting-hole patterns, bolt-hole locations, machined plates, brackets, fixtures, and other components where the distance between hole centers is a critical dimensional requirement.
The 1525 can also be used when the two holes are located in different planes, providing additional flexibility for complex components.
Edge-to-Center Measurement
The upper measuring jaws allow the operator to measure the distance from a component's edge to the center of a hole.
This is particularly useful when verifying the location of a hole relative to an outside edge, eliminating the need to derive the center location from multiple separate measurements.
Available Measuring Capacities
CRB Supply offers three 1525 configurations:
| Model | Edge-to-Center Range | Center-to-Center Range | Accuracy |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1525-500 | 10–500 mm / 0.4–20" | 20–500 mm / 0.8–20" | ±0.09 mm |
| 1525-1000 | 15–1000 mm / 0.6–40" | 30–1000 mm / 1.2–40" | ±0.12 mm |
| 1525-1500 | 15–1500 mm / 0.6–60" | 30–1500 mm / 1.2–60" | ±0.15 mm |
All three models provide 0.01 mm / 0.0005" resolution.
Purpose-Built for Hole Location Inspection
A conventional digital caliper is useful for general outside, inside, depth, and step measurements, but determining a hole's center location can require additional measurements and calculations.
The INSIZE 1525 is designed specifically for these dimensional relationships.
The specialized measuring geometry allows the operator to directly inspect:
-
Hole-to-hole center distances
-
Edge-to-hole center distances
-
Mounting-hole patterns
-
Hole locations relative to component edges
-
Offset hole locations
-
Large hole patterns
This makes the 1525 particularly useful when centerline location is the inspection dimension itself.
Large-Format Measurement
The 1000 mm and 1500 mm versions extend the 1525 series into large-part inspection.
1525-500
10–500 mm edge-to-center and 20–500 mm center-to-center
Suitable for general machine-shop inspection, smaller fabricated components, brackets, plates, fixtures, and tooling.
1525-1000
15–1000 mm edge-to-center and 30–1000 mm center-to-center
Provides additional capacity for larger machined and fabricated components.
1525-1500
15–1500 mm edge-to-center and 30–1500 mm center-to-center
Designed for large components and applications involving extended hole patterns or substantial feature spacing.
Digital Measurement Functions
The digital unit provides 0.01 mm / 0.0005" resolution and supports metric and inch measurement.
Controls include:
-
ON/OFF
-
SET
-
mm/inch conversion
-
Preset
-
Preset adjustment (+ / −)
The preset function can be used to establish an initial reference value before measurement. INSIZE also specifies automatic power-off and movement-activated power.

Dimensional verification
Why Use a Centerline & Edge-to-Center Caliper?
When a drawing specifies a dimension from a component edge to a hole center, or from one hole center to another, a conventional caliper may require multiple measurements and calculations.
The 1525 combines specialized measuring geometry with a digital readout to simplify these measurements.
For repetitive inspection of hole patterns, this can provide a more direct measurement method and help reduce manual calculations during dimensional inspection.
Measurement Guidance
Before measurement, clean the measuring faces and workpiece with a clean, soft cloth and verify the zero/reference position.
When using the upper measuring jaws, INSIZE specifies establishing the appropriate zero position before measurement. When using the lower measuring jaws, the reference can be established using an appropriate gauge block.
For center-to-center measurements, the measurement is based on the probe geometry and preset/reference value. INSIZE's operating instructions explain that the appropriate probe diameter can be incorporated into the preset value to obtain the center-distance reading directly.
The caliper is not waterproof and should be protected from coolant and other liquids during use.
